Brendan Rodgers reckons Harry Kane is a quality player and he is good enough to make it to the England national team. Stopping Kane was the biggest challenge for Rodgers’ boys when they took on the Spurs at home, and Rodgers reckons he could be a danger for the next 10 years!
Kane has been scoring goals for fun this season. He is at no. 4 along with Alexis Sanchez in the chart of the top scorers in the English top flight in 2014-15 so far. He has had 12 ultimately successful shots.
And, it’s not only in the Premier League that he has struck for Tottenham. In other competitions too, he has led the attack to perfection. His goals’ tally in the League Cup and in the Europa League read 3 and 7 respectively, and this is only the first season that Kane has been given a regular run in the Spurs XI. He had played occasionally in 2013-14, but, could not quite break through. However, under Mauricio Pochettino, he seems to have come out leaps and bounds.
Rodgers, though, is still of the view that Daniel Sturridge is the no. 1 in England as far as striking abilities are concerned.
Talking to the media ahead of Liverpool-Spurs game, Rodgers said, “Whatever little I have seen of Harry, he definitely looks good and if he gets in the England squad, which I am sure is going to happen soon, it would be good for Daniel as it takes the pressure off him.” Sturridge is above Kane in the goalscorer betting odds tables – with the fact that he has missed most of the season so far seeming to have little impact on who fans want to back!
“But, I would still rate Daniel higher because he is such a complete player. He does not lack anything. Speed, power, goal scoring sense, it’s all there in his game.”
