Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has said that the same of Sam Winnall from the club would not impact their game when they face Barnsley on Saturday.
The player is wildly expected to join Sheffield Wednesday when he completes his medical on Thursday, according to reports making the rounds in the transfer market.
Winnall’s current deal is set to lapse at the end of this term but he has opted to move to Barnsely despite being earlier linked with a move to Brentford. He has scored 11 goals in 23 games for the Tykes this campaign to make his total at Oakwell 48 after two and a half years. He was shortlisted for the PFA Championship Player of the Month award last month but it was eventually awarded to Leeds player Pontus Jansson.
“We follow all the information about Barnsley but this is not in my control. I have to work with my team and fully focus on preparing for what we must do in the game.
“Generally, this is my job and I expect after the Brighton game where we played very good football but without the result. We need to have the mentality of doing better and being more clinical to win the points,” Jokanovic said of Winnall’s transfer.
Winnall would likely not prosecute the match against Fulham and they would definitely miss him. The coach admitted that he is impressed with Barnsley this season, saying they “are a very dangerous team and they’re organized.”
He added that his team would be focused on dominating and winning the game in front of their fans when both sides clash despite acknowledging that Barnsley are good on the counter. He said the team just has to concentrate whilst watching for the strengths of their opponent when they meet.
