Barnsley hope defender Adam Jackson will be fit for Checkatrade Trophy of Tuesday the clash with Everton Under-21s. Jackson was not involved in the match for Reds’ 1-0 League One victory over Southend on Saturday, but manager Daniel Stendel expects him to be available to the home team against the Premier League Academy.
Stendel is expected to make changes to the bottom league cup contest, which starts a round of three teams in a row. Goalkeeper Jack Walton is out, but a number of players who have not had much play time recently are set to play. Williams, Jared Bird, Jacob Brown and Victor Adeboyejo could all get the run outs.
A man who is not expected to feature in the game is Kieffer Moore. His return to the scoresheet on Saturday gave Reds their victory. It was his first goal of a month after a hamstring injury, and the productive attacker feels he will return to his best.
“The damage occurred at this time hurts me a little,” Moore said. “But I’m back to my best now and I will start jumping again, get as many goals as possible and help the team out and get up on the table.” Stendel was also relieved to see his key man back in the goals as the Germans know how important it is for his side chances this term.
